Tambora Geopark Executive Board currently held the third Ngopi Tambora webinar, by the theme “Monitoring of Online-Based Tourist Visitors, Towards Digitalization of Tourism Data in Sumbawa Island”.
The activity through zoom application featured four sources such as The Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, Dompu District Government, and Tambora Geopark Executive Board itself. The event which was attended by dozens of participants from various circles was held on Friday (10/09/2021) from 20.00 to 22.30 Wita.

General Manager of Tambora Geopark Executive Board, Ir. Hadi Santoso, ST, MM, IPM as the webinar organizer, said that it was important to show the data of tourists visiting ((traffic) on every tourism destination (Geosite) that included Tambora Geopark area, Sumbawa Island, NTB. And in order to increase the validity, ease, efficiency-effectiveness of data collection and monitoring, the use of information technology / digitalization becomes an inevitability.

“So that, it is easier us to map the tourism potential. In turn, it facilitates the determination of appropriate policies in the development of existing tourism destinations. Based on data, because of Tambora Geopark area consisting of 34 Geo-sites that stretches from the eastern end part of Bima Regency to West Sumbawa Regency has got the attention of the Central Government, after the submission of development proposals was submitted by the Executive Board through the NTB Governor, Dr. H. Zulkieflimansyah, in June 2021,” Hadi Santoso said.
In a warm welcome, the Head of Natural Recourses Conservation Center (BKSDA) of The Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Iswanto, SP, MH, as a speaker conveyed his support to visitor data digitalization.
“I have just been working for six weeks in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). And I have met Mr. Hadi several times, General Manager of Tambora Geopark Executive Board. We even went to check several areas together including Satonda Island, which is one of eighteen conservation areas under The NTB BKSDA. We welcome and fully support the plan of visitor data digitalization. I am ready to accept the collaboration with competent parties in managing the conservation areas” Joko Iswanto said.
The same thing was revealed by the Head of Dompu Cultural and Tourism Department, H. Khairul Insyan, SE, MM, considering that It has been determined 37 tourism villages in Dompu Regency by the Regent of Dompu. And his party admits that it is still manual in collecting the tourist data, especially foreign tourism by relying on data from the Immigration Office so far.
“Dompu District Cultural and Tourism Department support Tambora Geopark Executive Board to facilitate digital applications in registering tourists. Moreover, I will invite all parties soon to conduct a round table (meeting), so we can have better collaboration with all parties including BKSDA, Tambora National Park Hall, NTB Provincial Government, Tambora Geopark Executive Board, etc.,” khairul said.
Meanwhile, the Head of ICT (Information Communication and Technology) Management, Yasrul, S.Kom, M.Eng, representing the Head of NTB’s Kominfotik Department, said he was ready to support in accordance with Job Description The Ministry Of Communication And Information. According to this UGM Post Graduation, that in principle online data collection application is easy to make. But it is also easy to leave, so Yasrul reminded that there should be a team appointed to carry out the operations and maintenance in the future.
“And it is necessary to conduct an in-depth technical study, before establishing or developing the applications. Including the service process of both devices and infrastructure must be really considered” Yasrul explained.

While in the enthusiastic discussion session, all participants supported the plan of digital application implementation, and provided important inputs.
